Although we are individuals, none of us are isolated and or totally alone as to the impact or our actions or lack of actions. Each of us belongs to and is part of a whole which can include family, friends and or associates. In some far eastern cultures that "whole" even extends to one's ancestors. Thus what actions we take, or actions we do not take, are a reflection upon and have an impact on our family friends and associates. While growing up my parents drove into my brother sister and me, " before doing something ask yourself would your parents be proud if they knew you did what you are about to do or not do." Simply put then, we must each do the right thing, that is all there is to it. It is not ever gray as to what that is. It is always black or white,( merely right or wrong). fsm
